It is a small store in a small town. The business outlook is very
good. WalMart is bringing in a supercenter less than 3 miles from the
store. This probably will not hurt business very much, as the shoppers
are loyal and consistent. There are problems with how the store is
managed. This is not something that is at the top; it comes from mid-
level bosses and managers. One employee in particular pays his son out
of pocket to do his own D.P.I. stuff. I don't know procedure or policy
concerning this, but it doesn't sit well with me. Also, the freight
crew boss has made it clear that he'll complain about anything and
everything and in the overall, be negative. This stems from working
with another manager complaining about everything. This manager is a
verifiable gossip-monger. She talks dirt and gossip about everyone and
doesn't make it clear to the people she has a problem with that she has
a problem. Instead, she treats those people poorly. I disagree. We
don't have a problem with back-freight. We have the problem of lazy
grocery people who choose to let others take care of working backstock
to the floor. When inventory is kept, there isn't a problem with extra
back freight.
