Akibia's strategy is to ride the coattails of Siebel Systems. Siebel
creates and sells the Client Relationship Management Software, then
recommends a few firms like Akibia to do the implementation. The
downside to this is that Akibia relies heavily upon on the success of
Siebel, a company long past its prime. Although the Siebel SW is very
powerful, it is typically much more than clients need, and far too
expensive. It is already past the time where Siebel is acquired, which
means that companies like Microsoft do not see the value in it. In the
end Siebel will shrink to a size of unimportance, and it may be close to
that now.
That said Akibia USED TO have a fantastic culture, before it brought in
some very weak middle management focused on their own job preservation.
They worked on some great projects, but from a career standpoint it
would not be good to have such a limiting job on your resume for more
than a year. You would be better served by going to a consulting firm
that offers a much broader range of experience. The upper managment has
made no indication that it wants to diversify, and that may be beyond
the capabilities of them anyway.
