Agere is a large company with all of the drawbacks. It is a casual
environment with an expected workday from 9:00 AM til 5:00 PM. However,
as an exempt employee, I am expected to work as long as it takes to
complete the work on a sometimes impossible schedule. It is beginning to
diversify it's employee base, but it still contains an 'old-boy network'
that limits the ability to advance up the career ladder. The easiest way
to advance is to leave for about a year and come back.
