Job Title Workplace Survey
P. C. Repairs & Upgrade Technician I was hired part-time and promised at the interview for a 2 week trial period. The hours were pretty much of my choosing and my business manager. I was allowed to dress casual, but neat and clean. I was told after my 2 week period, I would be evaluated for my work performance, attendance, and client's reaction to my work and meetings. The manager had several clients who had older computers that needed upgrading to the latest operating system, memory, hard drive, processor if agreed upon, various software as requested by each client, any internal cards as modems, ethernet, wireless, any local area networks, and my manager's software for the clients to have use of our server. I had my own workshop room, of which I cleaned up and organized while there, and was asked to build and setup a computer for my use at the office and one to build and setup for use with the job at home. I would be alowed to keep the computer that I was allowed to use at home. I either repaired and upgraded the clients computers at the workshop, then returned the units back to the clients, or did the repairing and upgrading onsite. I really was liking the job and started making sugestions for my job and the business from my end. I did all that was asked of me and did all the above work that was asked of me to do. I was on my 5th day working in the workshop on another client's computer upgrades and my manager's personal secretary came in to the room and told me that my services were no longer needed and I was asked to packup my belongings , get my check, and leave the premises. She remained in the workshop, as if to make sure that I didn't steal anything, escorted me down to the office, gave me a printed out check for my work done, and walked with me out the door. I was totally shocked about this and wanted to talk to the manager who had interviewed me, hired me, and made all those promises to me that interview day. I was told that he was out of town on business and wouldn't be back for several days. He had told me that he wanted me to go to another office of his business and upgrade those computers and get them setup good for his business also. All these promises made to me and talk of my future and working with the business were now just lies to get me to do the work that he wanted done and couldn't do hisself ! I had never been treated like this anywhere before in my life and gave him no reason to deal with me this way ! Without saying, I wanted to do something to hurt his business. Install a computer virus on his server to be sent out to all his client's computers or something to vent out my anger for this infair and uncalled for treatment to me ! But, being the kind, hard working, law-abiding man that I was raised up to be, I did nothing but shake hands, thank them for the job opportunity, and quietly leave the business location. He didn't even have the guts or was man enough to face me personnaly and tell me that he no longer needed my services !! I hope that he gets his due punishment for the way that he tresated me later in his life !
