The 'ulitmate' consulting firm in my opinion concerning the integration
of technology and business. If you can prove yourself early or often,
this is the place to be. However, until recent changes, many
promotional oppoturnities were 'time-based' and not merit-based but
you 'hook-up' with the right partner, I perceive the sky is the limit.
The motto 'Work hard, play hard' is an understatement and the firm
constantly expected it even during 'down' times. I felt that if I
wanted to give anything to a personal life, it was more hush than
announced.
The other drawback is that the firm typically hires from the
undergraduate pool directly from college so individuals coming from more
diverse backgrounds have a tougher time fitting in, including MBAs.
Someone with a MBA shouldn't have to compete with a very junior
individual.
Concerning Accenture, I had a great time with my career - they demanded
the best and got the best. I really wish that there was more focus on
employee needs
