During last 12 months the "culture" has begun to go down-hill. Used to
be an attitude of "work hard, play hard" now seems to be just "work
hard." Fringe benefits have been significantly cut, more than seems to
be happening at competitors. Also, according to SEC filings, revenue
and profit per person has gone up substantially, but at the cost of
some
of our greatest talent moving on to other opportunities. Appears to be
a effort towards short-term profits at the expense of long-term
shareholders. Could that be because of the the way in which Partners
can start selling much of their stock in a year or so?
There is an honest effort to improve diversity and at least some of the
senior executives are committed to helping workplace minorities (women,
ethnic and racial minorities) gain valuable experience and leadership
opportunities (I say this as a White Male).
Dress code tends to have "business casual" as a base and if the
client's
environment that we often work in is a higher standard -- then so is
the
Accenture dress code.
Opportunity for advancement -- Since I don't actually work in
the "consulting" or "outsourcing" areas, the opportunities for
promotion
SUCK. Further, among some of my associates, last year the Accenture HR
folks even included secretarial positions that did not even require a
HS
diploma as a "comparision group" to justify "screwing" the class of
workers. While it only took two weeks to do the initial market
comparison, now they are asking everyone to give them until next
September to rectify this abuse.
