Best decision of my life to go to work at Accenture.
Culture and Environment
- Challenging/rewarding assignments - I have always been given
challenging assignments and when I did not like an assignment I was able
to complete it and then get another one that was more to my liking. The
firm has allowed me to leverage my computer science training but trained
me to be a business expert in supply chain and business operations.
- The PEOPLE - The people at the firm are the best and they are a lot of
fun to be with.
- Promotion and Job Advancement - There is limited competition between
people at a level since the firm has been able to promote based upon
what you accomplish on your assignments. Compared to my pers from
scholl I have always been moving as fast or faster than they have. Same
with pay.
- Limited Politics - Since the promotion and raise process involves
input from multiple people, one person can not control what happens.
The ranking of people is done in an environment where several people
have input
- Dress Code - Business Casual - I used to wear suits all the time and
now it is busines casual every day ( I work in the High Tech industry)
- Hours - the hours can be long but one has to understand several points
a. consultants always work on the toughest assignments - that's why
they get paid more than employees; b. I found I put more presure on
myself to work the long hours than anyone else so I had to learn to
control myself first; c. There is a concern about quality of life
with about 80+% of the people - you need to develop a way to work
through the issues with the other 10-20 %
