In 1997, when I hired on with Accenture, the company was wonderful. I
was in awe over the benefits, including company sponsored happy hours
and parties. In the last 2 years since the decline in the economy and
our company's subsequent IPO, many of these things have changed. I once
believed this was a company who would never be lacking in work. They
are now laying people off because they can't sell work. Promotions and
salary increases have become nearly impossible over the same time
frame. I no longer feel this is a "great place to work", although that
is one of their big slogans.
