Accenture, I'm sad to say, has considerably changed after it decided to
go public in 2001. It's good to mention that Accenture was always a
strict consulting firms, with rigid rules and code of conduct.
However, until 2001 there was a strong sense of people development and
coaching and, although you were required to work long hours, you could
rely and count on good experienced partners who always had time to
coach you.
After 2001 everything changed. Partners began to be increasingly
required to sell large, tech oriented projects and seldom had time to
coach new professionals.
Not rarely I saw partners asking recently hired new managers to develop
clients and prepare proposals with no clue on how to do it the AC way.
And when these new recruitees failed, they were frquently fired.
It is a shame how such a great company could lose its most important
asset, care for people - their own kind, so quickly because of money.
