Consultant The most common theme when asked about the Accenture culture is "It depends." In the office where I work (relatively small) there is a great comraderie among the employees. While company-sponsored social activities have been limited in recent years, we are starting to bring back such events as comedy club attendace, partially-sponsored office trips, diversity and women's forum dinners and happy hours, etc. Service opportunities have always been available with repected organizations such as Junior Achievement, Race for the Cure, and the United Way. The dress code is business casual both on the client site and in the Accenture office. Some clients dress very casually, and I have seen Accenture executives agree that it makes sense to loosen a few of the dress code rules while on those sites. Of course, on the flip side other clients dress very conservatively and employees on those engagements will dress more conservatively as well. Work hours will depend on the client, the project, and even the phase of the project. While our work-weeks are typically a minimum 40 hours, many clients are comfortable with us working those hours on a flexible schedule. Other times, the client scrutinizes every move we make, and our hours are less flexible. In either case, there will be times (such as during a system implementation) where we must be available for many more than 40 hours to test, fix, and deploy the system prior to roll- out. There are ample opportunities for advancement, although at times recently the advancement timeline has been slower. This is improving, and can be improved individually by taking an active role in project and office activities. This helps the executives to get to know you better, so that when your name comes up for promotion more of the decision-makers know who you are. In general, the atmosphere is very comfortable. While we spend the majority of our time on the client site, the times we are in the Accenture offer a great opportunity to reconnect and get to know our co- workers.
