ALLTEL sends their customer service representatives through almost nine
weeks of training in service skills, computer systems, and sales
techniques. There are two tests during this training, both of which the
employee has the opportunity to retake should thier first attempt fail.
There is then a two to three week period in which the new hire is on
the floor answering calls with the continuous availability of a
supervisor or trainer for any questions or problems the employee might
have during this time. The supervisor is on the floor with the group of
six to ten people and is there with the beckon of a hand.
