I am changing careers from 15 years as a Registered Nurse in Critical
Care to the Insurance industry. I tumbled into insurance thru a friend
of my parents and took classes and passed the exams for P & C and Life
and Health. Once licensed, I undertook the huge job of searching for
a position. The way I found AFLAC was very strange but I sent my resume
to I thought was the regional manager but it turned out he was
transferred to another region of the country; however, he made sure to
forward my resume to the state coordinator and then on to the right
local director. I am looking for all information about AFLAC and the
true successes. I am not a sales person, but I have an extensive
background in healthcare and could service all accounts easily with a
few directions. This finding companies put me into a panic and sends
me running for my closet. I talk myself into confidence and then just
as fast I run and hide. I realize I sold myself when I interacted with
the public in the nursing role, but the rejection thing is HUGE for
me. I am trying to find info to overcome it or look for another avenue
that does not require me to "find business". I was sent to the new
L.E.A.S.E. school without really being told what it was about or about
how important it was the qualify the "contact" list; so from the start
I have felt behind the curve.
Since I not new to working, it has been difficult for me to decide what
to do. I felt out of place in class. The opportunities seem to be
endless but it would be nice to know the percentages that really make
it.
