Working for this firm is one of the better experiences I have had. The
staff are extremely friendly from the top level of management here in
Melbourne down to the Admin staff. I was welcomed (despite not being an
Australian) and made to feel at home straight away.
The culture here is one of support and this makes it easy to work with
everyone at every level. Management make a conscious effort to get to
know all staff and provide the diversity of work necessary to retain
staff and allow personal advancement. In addition they provide drinks
nights every other Friday which is a definite bonus!
Dress code is smart, although I can often get away without a tie. Most
people wear a suit and Fridays are dress-down days so a polo shirt and
smart jeans are OK. This is handy for going straight out on the lash
after work on a Friday night!
Opprotunities here are excellent. I have travelled to Brisbane for work
and been well paid for working away from home. (in truth it was more
like a holiday - weekends on the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast fitting
in very well with my surfing hobby!). There is no pressure to work
interstate but the opportunities are there if you want them which is
great. It is also an excellent way of earning a bit of extra cash
through the per diem system and also clocking up some air miles.
Personal advancement is easy. My manager has been extremely responsive
to my training needs and once identified, they have been quickly acted
upon. As such I have advanced rapidly in terms of my knowledge and
modelling software use which of course gives me extra leverage at salary
review time as I can demonstrate my extra worth to the company. Not that
this is necessary since the people up top know how you have advanced and
react to it well at this time.
