The company's culture is performance-driven, relying heavily on
metrics taken for almost every aspect of employee activity. While
this allows the company to accurately measure employee and
department performance, a large amount of time is occupied in
submitting data for collection.
One difficulty ADVO has had over the past few years is achieving
"employer of choice" status. While hard to pin down, the reasons for
this failure could be a lack of communication between employees
and management, a lack of formalized training and goal-setting or
a failure by the corporation to adequately recognize and remunerate
the skills and talents of the employees.
Morale at my location is fairly strong and positive. The members of
the Graphics Print team respond well under pressure, and
consistently perform above the levels set for the organization
nationwide. However, the location is often forced to follow the lead
of other, lesser-performing print locations, a situation which has
caused widespread frustration.
The location management has also annouced a major change to
the workflow of the department which will take effect within a month,
causing a great deal of anxiety. It is unclear how this revised
workflow will affect the department.
The company as a whole has taken great strides towards achieving
its goal of reaching $2 billion annual revenue, and the general tone
of the company fully encourages reaching that goal.
