Business is picking up. 3i is still the iggest European private equity
firm, and we are gaining momentum again. Weakness is ??the size, and
strength is the size. We lose deals because we are too slow, but we
survive smaller funds in a crisis because we have far more cash.
Employee morale is highly dependent on the markets. It is a cash driven
environment, not so much focussed on social contribution etc. I still
think, though, helping small companies to succeed is a great job to be
in.
