April 2017 | CURRENT STUDENT

Uppers

Outstanding Engineering and Education courses

Large and diverse student body

Downers

Too much reliance on greek organizations for social life

Athletic Department disappoints

Comments

The education you receive at this school will not go to waste. Although it is not a top ten school there is a lot to gain in terms of networking and almost any major has potential for a career after graduation.

You learn how to compete in such a large university. Many classes to choose.

Downers

Teaching quality varies. It depends on different professors. I feel that professors in Fall semesters are much better than ones in Spring semesters. Some profs don't teach in spring because of their researches.

Comments

If you are interested in accounting, U of I has one of the top five accounting programs.

Uppers

Lot of organizations on campus allowing you to get a taste of a lot of different things and shape your career

Downers

Some companies don't consider the school strong, despite good engineering and business schools.

Comments

Anything is possible at the school, but you need to be active and aware from your first year of school.

August 2015 | FORMER STUDENT

Uppers

Tuition is extremely reasonable for in-state students at 15k/year. You would be hard pressed to get more for your money anywhere in the country.

Downers

Basketball and football teams have taken a dive in recent years, though other sports have enjoyed considerable success - gymnastics, golf, wrestling, volleyball.

Comments

Top notch education (especially business and engineering), combined with affordable tuition, low cost of living, and a great party atmosphere make U of I one of the best choices for any Illinois resident.
