January 2016 | FORMER STUDENT

Uppers

Academic rigor, solid research opportunities, lots of clubs, motivated students.

Downers

Ability to AP out of courses seems nice at first, but you miss out on academic rigor and opportunity to meet faculty/students outside your major.

Comments

Don't be afraid to take courses outside your major, even if they might impact your GPA. You'll never have that opportunity to satisfy your curiosity again, and being able to intelligently speak about something outside of your field of expertise is a useful skill for the future.

January 2016 | FORMER STUDENT

Uppers

Most professors are genuinely interested in seeing their students succeed.

Downers

A lot of pressure, grade deflation, winter wonderland, Greek life is dangerous.

Comments

Get ready to do your work. If you were the big fish in a little pond... This is a lake, and all of the fish are prize-sized.

Hail All Hail Cornell

October 2015 | CURRENT STUDENT

Uppers

I love the diverse interests the students have. There are 7 undergraduate schools and you will meet people from every single one. As an engineer, I love the engineering program. It's rigorous and has a reputation as one of the best in the world.

Downers

The weather kind of sucks in the winter, but you'll become a tougher person for it!

Comments

Cornell is a great place to come if maybe you have some idea of what you want to study but aren't 100% sure. I know a lot of people that have changed majors and undergraduate schools within Cornell with ease. Cornell wants you to enjoy what you study and doesn't want you to feel pigeon-holed. It's a great place to explore a diverse range of interests.

October 2015 | CURRENT STUDENT

Uppers

Huge variety of students and academic programs, beautiful campus and surrounding area, great feeder to top BB and Boutiques

Downers

Huge gap between top and bottom performers, far from major cities, not a strong feeder to MBB

Comments

Cornell is a great school to attend if you have a wide range of interests because it legitimately has something for everyone. From applied engineering physics to hotel administration, Cornell has a huge range of highly regarded programs.

August 2015 | FORMER STUDENT

Uppers

Variety of majors and classes means there is plenty of opportunity to explore and interact with students of diverse interests.

Downers

The class sizes are so big that it's difficult to feel like you know everyone which affects the culture.

Comments

Think about whether you're okay with social life revolving around the campus because the town is small, and whether you like a large school.
