I didn't find out what I was working on until about one week before the start date.

Advice to Potential Interns

4.9 of 5 stars

I really loved that I was considered a member of the team and was treated as that. I was given challenging projects and guidance on how to accomplish them if needed. I was also given lots of availability to go above and beyond as I took more initiative.

Downers

I would have like to have had more of an overview of the other departments.

Advice to Potential Interns

I think that this company is very unique in their culture. They are willing to allow you to pursue new avenues and markets that will benefit the company. There is a lot of project ownership in the company and that produces a great product.

Incredibly technical, challenging internship with great team and coworkers

Kansas City, KS | 2014 | VERIFIED INTERN

Uppers

Getting to work on something very challenging and fast paced, working with great coworkers, having a boss that is incredibly helpful, and getting paid well to do it.

Downers

Working remotely made some aspects slightly more difficult, but that's a very small con - as they gave me the opportunity to work remotely to begin with.

Advice to Potential Interns

Just come work here. The company, culture, and environment are all wonderful - with the pay to boot.

Understanding the process of Software Engineering from an outstanding company.

4.8 of 5 stars

Phoenix, AZ | 2014 | VERIFIED INTERN

The best aspects of the Intenrship had to be the work culture, and the emphasis on creating quality product. Garmin had a fantastic culture, and everyone seemed to appreciate and love the work they performed for Garmin. The emphasis on creating quality products truly reflect how talented everyone at Garmin is. Each person aims to become a master in their craft in order to product a quality product.

Downers

I least liked the fact that the internship had very few events for interns to explore the company.

Advice to Potential Interns

Garmin treats each employee with great respect, and the work culture is very positive and supportive.

Sample Interview Questions

During the interview process, I was presented with questions that involved bit-wise manipulation of variables along with simple logic/programming questions.

Downers

I guess the worst thing about my internship was the traffic after work on the way home.

Advice to Potential Interns

Everyone is really helpful and always willing to offer advice to new hires. Everyone is assigned a mentor for the first year of employment, so be sure to ask plenty of questions and never be afraid to learn new things.

Sample Interview Questions

Where do you see yourself in 5 years? 10 years?

Are you more of a leader or a follower?

Advice to Management

I thought everything was really well done. Want to comment on how helpful it was to have a mentor of about the same age group as me. I feel that this enhanced my learning abilities and helped myself feel more welcome.
