My co-workers and the support they provided, and the bonding with my fellow interns

Downers

Would have liked to be handed greater responsibility

Advice to Potential Interns

While the internship is a very good way to assess an organization, don't forget that you also need to assess the kind of work you are doing. You may work with a good/bad team during your internship, but what is very important to understand while making your career choices is whether the work challenges you and makes you happy.

Advice to Management

Occasions to foster better team bonding will help your interns learn more about your employees, who are the biggest strength of your organization. Arranging for intern stay, etc. are now expected as the bare minimum in terms of the perks that good employers provide.

Steep learning curve on a challenging client project with opportunity to leave a good impression for a full-time position

4.4 of 5 stars

Other (International) | 2016 | VERIFIED INTERN

Uppers

Real strategy project, steep learning curve, challenging project, helpful and friendly colleagues, casual break-outs in the evening, several team events in the city, direct client-contact, opportunity to present in front of client, contact to partners of the firm

Downers

Long working hours (however, nothing special or extraordinary for a strategy consulting internship)

Advice to Potential Interns

If you are not sure yet, whether to go to a firm like BCG or McKinsey or A.T. Kearney, then A.T. Kearney is definitely a fair alternative. The colleagues are very down-to-earth, the projects also include far-reaching strategy projects, and the salary is comparable to the bigger strategy consulting firms. Two major advantages of A.T. Kearney compared to the three big management consulting firms are (1) the higher flexibility in all admin processes and (2) the possibility to occupy a specific topic as not each topic is already occupied by a colleague.
