Fun & Educational. I learned a lot!

Uppers

Having managers, who have been in this field for years, teaching you. Having an "on boarding" buddy assist you with your tranistion and your go to person if you have any questions about the company.

Downers

Have to remind some individuals that you are an intern and you're still learning.

Advice to Potential Interns

Be prepared to take notes and listed. Very knowledgable people. A lot to learn.

Advice to Management

Keep an eye on the amount of time interns spend working on different projects. Some have very little and others have a lot where they are unable to participate in the intern activities.

Learn as much as you, contribute as best as you can and strive for progress and excellence. Be collaborative and creative. Be resourceful.

Uppers

-The project I was assigned to helped me strengthened my communication skills, taught me how to be resourceful and collaborate with my team and those outside of my team. It pushed me to go out of my way to get tasks and responsibilities doen and the people I worked with were always so helpful.

Downers

-HP is a global company so you must expect that the people on your team or collaborate with will not necessarily be in the same office with you. There will be days that you are alone in the office.

Advice to Potential Interns

-If you are looking for employment with HP or any company for that matter, do not depend on how the market says the company is doing financially. Look at how the company is making a change to be better. HP is currently in its turn around and it is improving. HP has a great company culture and if you work hard you will have many opportunities for growth. Lots of learning opportunities and face to face with executives being that they work in the same area as we do.

Advice to Management

-I had a positive experience with the managers I worked with. I would like to say keep up your open door policy and positive attitudes. I believe that is the driving force to make employees work hard and be happy.

Most flexible internship

Uppers

Overall flexibility. My manager encouraged us to attend all of the networking events, feedback from my manager throughout the summer on my projects. The ability to meet different technical managers who have different sorts of projects, there was always a baby project I could take on.

Downers

I was in a lab setting (which needed special access to get into). It was okay, but hard to talk to any of the other interns. I felt as though I were in a bubble.

Advice to Potential Interns

Hp offers flexibility and cares about you growing as both professionally and individually. There are different types of programs within Hp that offer growth and potential.
