Experienced in Energy & Utilities

3.4 of 5 stars

Cambridge, MA | 2014 | VERIFIED EMPLOYEE

Uppers

People/colleagues, intellectually challenging, flexibility to manage work/life balance and professional development if you push for it

Downers

Managing work/life balance professional development can be very challenging

Comments

The work and work environment can be extremely rewarding, and entry-level consultants (research analysts) are very well-placed in graduate schools after working at Brattle for a few years. However, expectations are very high for quality of work. If you don't plan on being fully engaged, committed, and client-focused, then don't apply.

Cambridge, MA | 2014 | VERIFIED EMPLOYEE

Uppers

The pay is good, the work is interesting, and the people are really fun to work with and are brilliant. I always feel intellectually stimulated.

Downers

The hours can be quite demanding, making work/life balance challenging at times.

Cambridge, MA | 2014 | VERIFIED EMPLOYEE

Uppers

Opportunity to learn a great deal about several industries, and work with brilliant people.

Downers

Work/life balance is not stellar.

Comments

This is an excellent place to spend a few years, before graduate school. I know several people who were able to crystallize their focus during their time at the Brattle Group (both deciding to continue in the industry, as well as getting out).

It's all about the people. If you like the people and the work, the rest will take care of itself.

I've learned a lot.

Downers

The absurdly strong preference for working many hours to working well.

Comments

"Non-hierarchical structure" really means that one nevers knows who to ask for permission for what.

Other in Energy & Utilities

3.3 of 5 stars

Cambridge, MA | 2012 | VERIFIED EMPLOYEE

Uppers

Good colleagues, intgeresting work and flexibility.

Downers

Client demands often make life difficult, litigation-related work involves high stakes and high anxiety.

Comments

The people are the key. It isn't the offices, the website, the marketing plan or the international reach that will make the job fulfilling, but your colleagues. Check us out.

Boston, MA | 2012 | VERIFIED EMPLOYEE

Uppers

Friendly coworkers, average hours/week are reasonable(ish), well-paid.

Downers

Unpredictability of hours (see previous) and lack of feedback/clarity of expectations.

Comments

Coworkers are very kind and friendly, but not very interesting. Sports and movies are a favorite topic of conversation, and going out drinking is one of the most common forms of entertainment (both for coworker bonding and on one's own). Everyone is easy to work with.
