The people, especially Ken.

Downers

Our reputation does not precede us in all places.

Comments

Moelis is most enjoyable place to work since DLJ.

Placement into good exit opportunities

Downers

Smaller deals with a higher work load. But this leads to a greater learning experience.

Comments

Placement in megafund PE has been amazing and as that is why many people go into banking as an analyst, it has been good. Good deal flow to enhance learning experience. All analysts in the LA office are on 3-4 live deals.

Intellectually challenging environment; opportunities to operate above your level; extremely strong business outlook driven by rapid growth

Downers

Rapid growth in headcount means that there is an uneven distribution of talent across the ranks (i.e. not everyone operates on Ken Moelis' level)

Comments

As a generalist, I'm able to work on a variety of projects across both industries and products. This makes for a intellectually stimulating work environment. Lately, hours have been more manageable than in the past.

Deal flow is fantastic and the size and composition of the firm are a perfect balance.

Downers

None in my opinion, it's a terrific place to work.

Buyside opportunities after completing 2 years.

Downers

Several bad senior bankers.

Comments

Pretty satisfied. Excellent buyside opportunities coming out of Moelis after you finish your 2nd year. Think it differentiates us from every other bulge bracket and boutique. Private Equity funds were incredibly eager to talk to all of us and my class placed incredibly well.

The people and that analysts have the ability to work as generalists across products and industries. It is very unique/special that an analyst could simultaneously be working on M&A / restructuring / capital raising / private equity.

Staffing model is very interesting. Lots of senior bankers and few junior bankers. It sometimes create a lot of work, but being a sole analyst means I can have a taste of every aspect of the transaction.
