Entry-level in Audit & Assurance
Seattle, WA | 2014 | VERIFIED EMPLOYEE

Uppers

Work-life balance, per hour pay, schedule flexibility, not a "big 4", the workplace atmosphere/environment, and the people.

Downers

Non-accountants barely recognize the "big 4" and we are not a "big 4", not as many SEC clients, and not as much exposure to enterprise accounting/reporting systems like Oracle, SAP, etc.

A growing firm with a lot of career opportunities. A lot of flexibility in terms of my hours and the workload.

Downers

Work in a larger metro office, can be hard to develop mentoring relationships and feel like partners support your career plans.

During busy season, you will work at least 55 hours per week. However, once busy season is over, your hours will return to normal and you will regain flexibility of your schedule. The people are great; you work hard together and you play hard together. During busy season, you may not have much of an outside life, but the compensation plus vacation time provided, means that outside of busy season, you can practically have as much fun as you want. The accounting industry isn't going anywhere, and it's only changing for the better. Between our fun committee (plans fun firm events) and cornerstone committee (committed to improving life within the office), your work should hardly feel like work, but more like a way of life.
