MWE is an excellent place to build a career in public accounting

3.6 of 5 stars

Mid-level in External Audit | New York, NY | 2015 | VERIFIED EMPLOYEE

Comments

Quality is life is far superior compared to larger firms. You have the opportunity to diversify the areas you work in as you are not subject to one industry or accounting sector.

Culture, Training, and the love!

Downers

cannot think of one

Comments

The firm is very fair with workload and the balance between your personal and work life. In addition to that, the employees go out of their way to make sure you learn the materials necessary for your workload.

Work Life Balance, Formal Training Programs

Downers

Seniors Managers who don't have much patient with young staff and expect them to know more then they should at a young level

Comments

MWE is a nice place to work and provides a good work life balance. Like any other firm it can be stressful at times but seniors and supervisors are willing to help you. Upper level management can be confrontational and inpatient at times probably due to client pressures and demands. The Pay is good but not great. Overall it is a good place to start out and learn for maybe 5-7 years but I wouldn't recommend staying and trying to make partner.

An acceptable place to work

2.8 of 5 stars

Experienced in Audit & Assurance | Other | 2015 | VERIFIED EMPLOYEE

Uppers

Most people are easy to work with, diverse client base

Downers

IT, slow-moving management decisions, reluctance to spend money to update computers more frequently and adequately compensate staff

Comments

The firm looks for ways to save money by delaying expenses, such as hiring new staff due to turnover or replacing technology. These delays make it harder to get work done. Compensation is ok, although better if you perform at an average level and don't go above and beyond. The firm is not growing, which limits opportunities.

New laptops {although still limited internet access}. Birthday cake of the month {although employees are watched like hawks while serving themselves}.

Downers

The current senior management & human resources staff have created a hostile work environment for employees.

Comments

Firm culture seems to be a continued upside down pyramid.

The non-stop support you receive for growing your career while simultaneously being able to balance your life and commitments
