The firm teaches us to act as professionals as opposed to order-takers. This is a valuable skill wherever an individual works.

Downers

No major complaints. If I had major issues, I would not be here. The firm is highly receptive to staff morale and allows us to take major ownership of our careers.

Comments

Don't overlook the quality mid-size firms. While big-four may have "cache", that cache typically leads to tough work-life balance. Although the Big 4 job outlook in private is probably a better, you will be working monster hours for not much more pay. At some point, the money is not worth having no life. I have never felt penalized for working where I work and I know over the course of my career that this was the proper choice. / / At our firm, we are flexible and nimble. If the economic environment changes, we are able to adapt accordingly. The staff that succeed are the ones that want to succeed and that don't want to simply follow orders. You can learn a tremendous amount about leadership, project management, and the workings of mid-size organizations at a quality mid-size firm. At a larger firm, you typically will see a fraction of the organization and at a smaller firm you are not dealing with very complex organizations.
