The greatest things about Grant Thornton are its culture and its people. Grant Thornton has the body (breadth) of a global firm with the heart and soul (operations) of a local firm. This is as positive for clients as it is for Grant Thornton employees. We are empowered to make decisions and to lead, to grow and be part of success.

Downers

The firm has grown significantly during the ten years I have worked there and certainly we have experienced some growth pains, but they are worth it.

Comments

I have been at Grant Thornton for ten years and it is a great place to be - I highly recommend it and have recruited a half dozen employees over this time.

The amount of management involvement in the audit process and the effect it has on associate career development.

Downers

The long hours during busy season working on our largest SEC client.

Comments

The Firm has had (and continues to have) an ambitious growth plan in its chosen market space (growing mid-market clients) and appears to be executing as planned. Many opportunities will be available for career advancement for new employees.

Our firm serves a sweet spot of dynamic clients. As a firm the size that GT is, we are able to use mobility to our advantage when comparing ourselves to our Big Four competitors while we can provide an international presence that our smaller competition is still working to achieve.

Downers

I'll caveat this by saying that this is a common problem throughout the industry. However, during busy season (in particular), the firm should provide more opportunities to encourage healthy behaviors (e.g., gym membership reimbursement).

Comments

You will learn. You will learn through formal training. You will learn on-the-job. You will learn from partners, directors, senior managers, managers, senior associates and associates alike. Most importantly, you will learn yourself while working at GT. It fosters a culture of learning every step of your career.
