Our culture. Collaboration, Leadership, Excellence, Agility, Respect and Responsibility

Downers

Work life balance during tax season.

Comments

Public accounting as a profession can be challenging work life balance at times. Once deadlines are over, it is all worth it. Choosing industry as a profession, you will ride the roller coaster of the business and upward advancement and career growth are dependent on the industry growth and opportunity. Whereas, in public accounting you will have opportunity to advance in a variety of industries as you have various clients to represent. Your broader experience will pay off at the end of your career.

Nearly all the benefits of a Big 4 but much more personal and friendly

4.4 of 5 stars

I work with people who genuinely care about me as an individual and work on interesting and challenging projects.

Downers

At times the partners are so busy building their own book of business that no one seems to address the effective functioning of the local practice.

Comments

GT culture is much less of a dog-eat-dog and climb-the-ladder-at-all-costs than what I see at the Big 4. Much more collaborative and helpful so we all succeed together.

Culture, Advancement Opportunities, Big-firm feel with small-firm qualities

Downers

Prestige

The very best of public accounting firms, focusing on growth, work/life balance, and professional development in the best cultural environment

4.6 of 5 stars

Mid-level in External Audit | Oklahoma City, OK | 2016 | VERIFIED EMPLOYEE

The very best aspects of working at GT is the firm's culture. The firm is extremely focused on retaining and recruiting top talent, which is beneficial for the employees, as we reap the benefits of this competition. The firm is also a great place to grow. There is always someone available to help you succeed in your work and career.

Downers

The base salary could be a little better, more in line with industry, but the firms recognizes that there are other benefits to public accounting that offset base salary and help maintain a competitive total compensation package.

Comments

Grant Thornton is extremely focused on recruiting and keeping top talent. This means you will always feel valued as an employee. The people you work with are also very intelligent and open to conversation, including managers and partners. Having an open door to these individuals is crucial to career development. The workload is typical of large accounting firms. Between the middle of January and May, you will be expected to work 50-60 hours per week. Outside of this "season", the firm's FTO policy allows you to take as much time as you need to balance your work and life. Compensation is competitive; the bottom line largely amounts to the city in which you work. GT is constantly improving as a company, and the business has an extremely focused strategic vision that will lead the firm to the top.

Flexibility and a significant push to foster work/life balance.

Downers

Compensation and lack of intensive training.

Comments

Grant is wonderful for those looking for balance. It's a wonderful place to learn the basics in a less cutthroat environment than Big 4. Culture is very important to management and we are looking to attract long term employees, not just fill chairs.
