The best aspects of working at Grant Thornton are the people and the type of work that I get to do (which is a bit of everything).

Entry-level in Audit & Assurance

Having an office that is a size where I can get to know everyone, management and colleagues who care about your personal/professional growth and development, management who wants you to stay in at the firm over the long term and actively seeks to improve your quality of life as much as they can, not an atmosphere where people feel like they've got to play games (eg: one-up one another), on the job training is extensive and colleagues are extremely patient and understanding when helping first year auditors

The culture and emphasis on work-life-balance

Comments

Many of my peers working at the larger firms are working twice as much and gaining half the experience and diversity as I am receiving at Grant Thornton. I am able to be candid about what I do and don't enjoy about different audits, and I can see the results of those discussions by efforts put forth by my superiors. The culture is very much team oriented, and GT strives to encourage everyone in our audit program to learn more about the people we work with and make the experience of working on close knit teams enjoyable. I can't imagine working anywhere else.

Entry-level in Advisory Services
Baltimore, MD | 2014 | VERIFIED EMPLOYEE

Uppers

I love the people I work with in my office. If it wasn't for them, I don't think I would like the actual work I am doing as much.

Downers

I do not like how my office is on the smaller side. Sometimes when I come to the office, I am the only person from advisory there, which can be lonely.

Experienced in Project Management
Chicago, IL | 2014 | VERIFIED EMPLOYEE

Uppers

At Grant Thornton, the people and the culture they create are very positive.

Downers

Frustrations with a lack of investment in internal services to support the external services.

Comments

Workload is much less here than at Big 4 firms, but at the same time you have exposure to more challenging work and more interesting clients from an early stage.
