I'd like to view my guide on more than one computer.

During the Adobe Digital Editions installation, you will be prompted to authorize your computer and create an Adobe ID. Doing so will allow you to view your guides on up to six computers. If you do not do this, you will only be able to read your guide on the computer you download it to.

You may create an Adobe account at any time. If you already installed Digital Editions but did not create an account, visit the Adobe.com membership site and sign up for an Adobe ID.

Once you have signed up for an Adobe ID, authorize your copy of Digital Editions. To do this, open Digital Editions, and click on the "Library" drop-down menu. Click "Authorize Computer" and enter your Adobe ID information.

I've received a blank gray screen no error message.

This issue may occur immediately after clicking on the "Download Default PDF Version" link on the download pop-up window. If you receive a blank gray screen, try the following immediate workarounds:

1. Open Adobe® Digital Editions, then retry downloading your guide.
   


2. Click "Save as …" to save the etd.ebx file to your computer. Then open the file by double-clicking it.

If you still receive a blank gray screen, check for one of the following issues:

1. You have a firewall installed that is preventing Acrobat Digital Editions from connecting to the internet.
   
   If you are on a personal computer, try temporarily disabling your firewall (we DO NOT recommend permanently disabling your firewall program) and downloading your Vault Guide again.
   
   If you are on a corporate / institutional network, ask your network administrator to allow Adobe Digital Editions to connect to the internet on ports 81 and 443.
   


2. Your web browser's temporary internet file cache is too large to process the download.
   
   Clear your cache by emptying your browser's temporary internet files folder:
   
   If you are using Internet Explorer, view Microsoft's instructions on deleting temporary files
   
   If you are using Firefox, view Mozilla's instructions on cleaning up its Download Manager
   


3. Your operating system is not correctly associating our PDF with your Adobe Digital Editions software.
   
   If you cleared your temporary internet files but are still unable to download your eBook, your computer's settings must be adjusted to associate the .etd file type with the Digital Editions program.
   
   For Microsoft operating systems, view Microsoft's instructions on changing file associations:
   
   
   • Windows Vista
     
   
   
   • Windows XP
     
   
   
   • Windows 2000
     
   
   
   For Macintosh Operating Systems, view Apple's instructions on changing file associations:
   
   
   • Mac OS X 10.5
     
   
   
   • Mac OS X 10.4
     
   
   
   • Mac OS X 10.0-10.3
     
   
   
   Once you have updated your file associations, download your guide again. If you are prompted to save the ebx.etd to your computer, proceed. Then open the file by double-clicking it.
   

Adobe DRM activator is not responding.

This error indicates that you have not properly activated Adobe Acrobat Reader. In most cases, this is a result of a firewall or proxy blocking your activation process. If you are working behind a corporate firewall, you may wish to speak to your System Administrator to see if the firewall can be disabled temporarily. If not, you will need to download your PDF to another machine for which you have administrative rights.

If you are using a personal firewall, it is possible to disable it yourself. The following instructions are applicable to Windows firewalls on computers running Windows Vista:

1. Select "Start," then click "Control Panel."
2. Click "Network and Internet."
3. Under "Windows Firewall," click Turn Windows Firewall on or off.
4. Click "Continue."
5. Make sure that "Off" is selected.
6. Click "OK."

If you are running another type of personal firewall, follow the directions from your manufacturer to turn it off temporarily.

If you are not running a firewall and you are still having difficulty activating, it is possible that Adobe's DRM Activation Server is temporarily offline. If this is the case, try to activate again after a few hours.

"An error occurred while receiving this document."

Adobe Digital Editions has encountered an error during the download process. Please try to download your guide again.

"An error occurred while receiving this document: None of the requested vouchers could be obtained."

This error indicates that you have not properly activated Adobe Acrobat Reader. In most cases, this is a result of a firewall or proxy blocking your activation process. If you are working behind a corporate firewall, you may wish to speak to your System Administrator to see if the firewall can be disabled temporarily. If not, you will need to download your PDF to another machine for which you have administrative rights.

"Page Does Not Exist - HTTP 400 Bad Request"

This message indicates that you are trying to download a Vault guide without first installing Adobe Digital Editions.

You can download Adobe Digital Editions for free at Adobe.com. Installation takes five to ten minutes, depending on your internet connection. See the "Installing Adobe Digital Editions" tab for more information on download and set-up for this program.

"Page Does Not Exist - HTTP 410 Gone"

This message indicates that you (or someone using your login) previously attempted to download your guide, resulting in the expiration of your download link.

This issue may occur if your download is interrupted before completion. Please contact Customer Service if you receive this error.

"Please wait. If your page does not load in a few seconds, please contact careerlibrary@staff.vault.com."

This message is a normal part of your download process.

"Voucher Error 441/442/401"
