Well, I'm guessing that you would want to retract the advice about applying to MarchFirst. Most of the internet consultancies are struggling. I work with Zefer, and they seem to still be doing ok - they've had some lay-offs, but those were biz developers who didn't cut the mustard. They have received another round of capital. Overall, though I'm hearing that the "~iants" (Scient, Viant, Pliant whatever) are not doing well. Bottom line, do your homework. You'll have better job security at a larger, more traditional firm. Of course, the Big 5 are following the ebiz route, definitely not leading it. But, then again, when have they ever been on the cutting edge? And please, spare me the "but Andersen is different". Yes, only in that their ego is much bigger.
Personally, I think IBM Global Serivces is among the few to "get it". Unfortunately, they don't get that they need to reward their people. So, they lose some of their best folks. |
