In Reply To: Hello, I feel soo overwhelmed at work. I am doing more than three people's jobs. Since I got promoted, I have to be in charge of my company's new customized database by modifying fields, adding users, etc. I have to train new users on how to use different company applications including database, email system, call reporting, etc. In addition, I have to still complete by other tasks (before promotion) such as helpdesk responsibilities (logging in calls and troubleshoooting all users' computer problems), sending purchase orders to vendors, researching information, etc. On Monday, a Fundraising exec will start. She is very demanding and materialistic. (The exec already demanded that she wants a laptop, palm pilot and other devices upon her arrival.) The CIO wants me to train her. I will have to not only train her with the company's applications but with MS Office because her old job uses Lotes 1-2-3 and WordPerfect. At the last minute, the CIO is going on vacation. He was supposed to go on vacation in two weeks but I think that he is trying to hide since the Fundraising exec is starting. He is always running away because he does not have a degree in technology. I feel that he is using me like he uses my boss for everything. Why should I train a high-powered exec? I am only an Assistant LAN Support. It is like a puppy training a dog. Plus, he wants me to setup a mandatory workshop for all employees. I am soo busy for a lousy $2,000 raise. I think that it is unfair to put such a huge workload on one person. How do you think that I should handle this situation?
Message: Work at Midland National Life, an insurance company in South Dakota. The managers can do no wrong there and they do almost no work. The entry-level workers underneath them do all the work!
