my boss has basically given me an official HR underperformance notice, which is obviously a precursor to an eventual layoff w/ warning unless things miraculously turn around 180deg.
i'm actually happy to be leaving this situation. but i need to know what leverage i have in negotiating severance pay and obtaining "layoff" status the company as opposed to a "firing" (for unemployment benefits eligibility)
i'm not looking to be malicious, just want to squeeze as much out of this circumsance as possible.
any advice is GREATLY appreciated.
