Is the employer supposed to pay the health premium for the first 30 days after an employee has been terminated?
Then COBRA would become availible on the second month...
I have an ex eployee who is telling me it's the law. I have looke it up in a few books and am not sure I am reading it correctly.
Does anyone know if is required?
Thanks |

AWHS,
It is my understanding that Health Insurance premiums are usually paid on the first day of the month, which means that if an employee is severed before the 30th then they are still covered until then. Some companies may pay on the 15th it all depends. Aside from that as soon as the "currently" paid up month is over then the employee needs to start paying COBRA premiums. Hope that this helps..
