Topic Name: Nose ring
Message Name: You can't sue!
Date Posted: 04/23/2002
In Reply To: Unless there is a clearly written policy in the HR Handbook describing appropriate/inappropriate appearances in the workplace, there shouldn't be any reason why you can't wear a small, post in your nostril. If there isn't a written policy and you are either denied a job and/or fired, you can sue.
Message: Why do people think they have a right to sue over everything they don't agree with. Keeping lawyers in the green, and tying up the courts with bull. And how can you know if the "nosering" is the reason you were denied the job. No employer would tell you that. Figure that one out for yourself after you can't seem to get hired. Hey, but don't forget...you've got RIGHTS! Employers, on the other hand should not have any and be forced to hire unprofessional looking people that offend clientele because you want to wear jewelry in your nose or be left to face outlandish settlements to lawyers ...who wouldn't, by the way, ever tick off a judge by wearing a nose ring in their courtroom. A judge has a right to warn and then find the counselor in contempt if he finds his dress inappropriate.hmmmm
