In Reply To: If you are a banker -- fuggedhaboudit. If you work at Urban outfitters or a coffee shop --you're golden. For companies in between you will just have to find out for yourself. There is definitely a spectrum of what employers consider acceptable. If you really like your piercing that much, the nyou should consider industries that are accepting of them. However, if your sights are set on an industry that does not allow nose rings then you should get rid of the nose ring and replace it with some tattoos that can't be viewed with normal business attire on. That's what I had to do. I don't recommend getting a tattoo (or more than one), because they can't be removed effectively, the scarring looks even worse than the tattoo itself if you do get it removed. Good luck.
Message: it really depends on how successful you want to be. You may very well get the job you want but I hope that you like it because you are not moving up and aren't getting the raises that you think you should. It's a fact of life, get used to it. Of course, there are exceptions that have been discussed already so I won't go into those.
