Look around around you can you see others wearing outlandish hair styles, clothing or visible body piercings? If yes, by all means join the fray. If not then you are best to leave the piercings at home and only wear them when you aren't working.
This is like the problem your dad had to address when it can to facial hair, or the type of outfit your mom had to wear. This would be a good time to reconnect with the folks who paid your way through eight years of undergraduate study and get some solid advice on how to behave in the workplace.

Your message, of the ones I've read so far, is absolutely the best at addressing the issue -- the environment (in this case, the appearance of potential co-workers) is the most relevant factor in deciding whether to keep or abandon a nose ring or other non-conventional attire. (And obviously, the original poster is NOT from India or she wouldn't be asking for advice!)
