Message: Unexpectedly, my boss (VP of marketing for large company) was fired after being in the position for only about 9 months. His performance was pretty good - neither execptional nor poor. The firing was presented to the company as a decision to leave (vs. having to move to another office) by the CEO of the Division. Almost all employees (including myself) are smart enough to know otherwise. The reason that my boss (VP of Marketing) was fired was that he was scapegoated by the VPs of Engineering and Sales for their lack of sales execution and slow product development (programming). The new VP of Marketing has little experience or industry knowledge but was picked by our CEO's boss. He seems clueless and is in a different office - physicially and mentally. Our business is overall performaing poorly (sales goals not being met, etc.)With no one to "protect" me and the other members of the marketing department, the "wolves" in sales and engineering are placing the blame for EVERYTHING on me and my department. I would defend myself, but there is no one to back me up. I have taken to documenting everything - but documenting doesn't matter if someone "puts a knife in my back" that I don't know about... I have only been in this job for less than 7 months and was hired by my-ex boss...and I'm already looking for a new job - but being at a job for less than a year looks really bad on a resume...
