In Reply To: Sorry, I can't give you much advice except look for a new job... That's what I am doing. I'm facing a similar situation I guess. My new boss competes with me all the time and you would never guess we're in the same team if you attended one of our meetings. He is sarcastic to me and acts unsupportive in front of other people. As a mentor he's non-existant, he plays down my ideas and blames me for everything going wrong with my projects (even if these are other staff members' responsibilities) Yuck! The environment in my company is very negative, the departments are mostly understaffed and responsibilities aren't clear. So guess what happens -everyone tries to push their responsibilities to other people and blame them if things go wrong. There have been layoffs recently so everyone just acts out of fear all the time. Not to mention rudeness! Gosh I can't stand rude people. Best of luck to you!
Message: Sounds like a place in the Midwest. We are understaffed and people act out of fear all of the time. Now we are forced to plaster smiles on our faces or they will think something is wrong with us. They call it a culture change. I call it a cover-up for what's really wrong: mentors who are non-existent but appear in crisis situations to blame you even if it's not your fault, people who are afraid to report the problem, people who twist things to make you look stupid when you really do have the skills and help others in your job and people are negative all the time! Ick!
