Topic Name: Boss take credit for your work?
Message Name: Your expertise is yours to keep..

In Reply To: I am a Marketing Manager - overseeing a corporate marketing department for 500+ employee firm. My boss has no marketing education / experience; his 15+ years background is in a completely different area. The problem is that he always takes credit for my work and ideas to compensate for his lack of "know-how", and to look good in front of the board of directors / president. HR is unreceptive, what should I do?
Message: I've had numerous such experiences myself but it's something that I believe you'd have to live with. on the other hand, there is always a bright side to these incidents...hey, he needs your "know-how" and brain! No one can take away your skills and work experience. These will always be with you regardless of which one you work for and I always find it fortunate that I can have the chance to learn from any assignment that I take on. Another important thing I've learnt from such an event is to always share credits with my colleagues/subordinates.
