Topic Name: Boss take credit for your work?
Message Name: Good example to learn
Date Posted: 12/20/2001
In Reply To: I am a Marketing Manager - overseeing a corporate marketing department for 500+ employee firm. My boss has no marketing education / experience; his 15+ years background is in a completely different area. The problem is that he always takes credit for my work and ideas to compensate for his lack of "know-how", and to look good in front of the board of directors / president. HR is unreceptive, what should I do?
Message: Your could be a good marketing stuff, but not a manager. I had this kind of experience before. If this happens to me again, now I belive that this is a good example for me to learn, to learn/gain management/lead skills. Your boss is qualified since he's able to deliver what's expected as a marketing manager and knows how to use resource(people), that's a good manager. If he also can make you happy and are willing to continues to work for him, that will be better... - Marketing yourself (your credit) as well - Learn from him, be him, then do better than what he'd done, if you are marketing manager later on...
