by your coworkers, go right ahead and leave the ring in. Enjoy them laughing at you behind your back. Enjoy them treating you as the office oddity. Enjoy the fact that you will never be taken to a client meeting or new business pitch because they are afraid what the client / prospect will think of you.
On the other hand you could grow the hell up and realize that we all don't get to do what we want at work.

What a ridiculous comment - laughing at someone behind their back for expressing creativity and individuality is the same as ridiculing someone because they are fat, or ugly, or perhaps stutter. It means NOTHING when you look their work performance. I'd love to work with someone like you - chances are I'm brighter, smarter, wittier and more of a leader than you would ever be - not to mention more open minded and focussed on what is important in life... I bet you hate your job. Pity that - after all - its YOUR career - no one elses. You make your own choices and live with them - and yes, you CAN have everything you want at work. Trust me.
