tackling office hell, smear campaigns: HELP NEEDED! |

I have just over a month left of my contract to go (I have already made up my mind to go, for a whole variety of reasons)and have just had a an absolute 'hatchet job' done on me in my performance review. The MD and Director were told lies about me, made up by a person in the office who doesn't like me, and who just by chance happens to be the MD's personal favourite, and boy, did I suffer at the review.
I was basically accused of some crazy stuff, which I know to be totally untrue (although this was rather outrageous when this was levelled to me at the meeting, I had to see the funny side of it as it was complete nonsense). I was told that nobody liked me (ie. that ONE individual didn't like me) and everyone's perception of me was negative etc.
I admitted that on one or two instances I had made a mistake professionally and held my hands up and acknowledged this. This other person has made far biggger mistakes and doesn't seem to get so much as a whisper said about her.
I have to return to work after the weekend to face all this. What should I do ? I want to leave the company anyway, but how do I do it ? Should I try to bear it all for another 4/5 weeks before the end of my contract, knowing my life is going to be crap with my MD and the chosen one making my life hell, but at least being able to say to prospective employers that my contract had simply expired, or should I immediately resign ? It seems unlikely that I will get the chance to help my career prospects there by doing the work that I want, and I don't have years of experience behind me.
Help! What should I do ? If I stay, how do I survive and keep my calm when they're out to get me?
All replies will be gratefully received!!
