In Reply To: How do most companies feel about body piercings? I have a nose ring that I'd prefer to leave in once I get a job. Should I wait until after I land a job, then ask if it's acceptable? Anyone else sporting their piercings in the office?
Message: Most companies have a written & unwritten rules about culture and dress. If you are in a conservative professional operation, forget about the nose ring!! if you work at a young trendy company, its possible to keep it as it would fit in with the culture. I once worked for a large national credit card bank soon after I graduated. I wore shirt and a tie to work. (I worked in customer service, where I never saw customers, as my work was done over the phone and away from most other areas). One day the Dept. mgr stopped me and we were talking, he memtioned that I was never dressed in a suit, I stated that being on the phone and away from most people in the bank I felt that there was no reason to wear one besides I lie to be confortable at work. He explained to me that image was EVERYTHING and at this organization, I should be concerned with my style of dress even when going to the cafe'. after that talk I soon left that company. take it for what its worth.
