Dear Anonymous: You should lose your job because you practice discrimination; which has no place in civilized society. If there is a problem with visible piercings (other than earrings) in the workplace, there should be a clearly written policy in an HR Handbook. If a candidate can perform a job, your personal opinion about appearance doesn't matter. Denying a person the right to work because of a piercing is the same as denying me a job because I am an African-American female over 30. |

Dear African-American female over 30 - sans the race card -it's extremely old and worn out. Obviously, company policy dictates; however, appearance has nothing to do with discrimination - it has everything to do with professionalism.
