The reason is quite obvious, you can't change things like gender, race, age, etc. But, it is quite easy to take out a nose ring. A nose ring is not an inherent part of your being like the previous listed characteristics are. |

Age, gender, religion etc. are illegal to discriminate against but everthing else is acceptable. It's a hiring process and one is choosen over another. It is up to the employer to determine what is acceptable not the employee. Get used to it!
