In Reply To: You have the chance to give the best resignation that anyone has given. Since the guy is such a jerk you need to do the following, but make SURE you are REALLY set in getting that other job and happy. 1. Find that other job. 2. Take a vacation at your current work while working at the other job. 3. At the end of your "vacation", you should know if you fit into the new job or not. Now the fun part. Once you know you have the other job down and can work there. Forget returning to your first job. Just don't show up. Let them call you a few times and leave messages on your answering machine if necessary. The remaining office workers will be stunned, surprized and happy that you quit this way. You just walked away and didn't come back. You will be a legend at work, because you just walked out on the boss. When he finally contacts you, just tell him you left due to a much better offer, or some other trivial thing. Or better yet, just change your message on the machine to say your happily employed at and aren't interested in any more interviews. It will be a SWEET, SWEET payback and give your boss some stress back. I guy at work where I'm at retired when the time came and he didn't even tell his boss or others about it. He just had it secretely done at personel and quit showing up for work. Even his boss was clueless. It was the ultimate sweet payback.
Message: Many an employee has dreamed of the perfect way to quit. It seems you have done so as well. But it's really unproductive to play that kind of trick because it'll catch up with you eventually. A story like this would be repeated, and if your new company heard the story, imagine how they'd feel about you now.
