I'll be working in New York at an I-Bank starting this summer and need to find a place to live. I've heard that Manhattan is really expensive and that Hoboken is a good alternative given that it's relatively cheap and has a lot of places to hang out. Where should I live? |

Don't move to Hoboken, then you are paying taxes in two states and that is a pain.
You should move to Astoria,Queens which is just over the 59th st bridge. It takes only 30 minutes to get to Mid-town, Rockefeller Center area. It is quite good for singles, Manhattan is outrageously expensive. Don't bother. With all the money you will save by not paying Manhattan rents you could buy a car or even better take cabs all over. Astoria rents are about $1200 for a small 4 room apt, in a rent stabalized building. Hard to find, but take the subway out and just walk around and go to realestate agents.
