Regardless is you have recourse, do you still want to work there?
Nobody likes employees who have sued employers, therefore polish your resume and "move on".

If your really valuable, you might confront your boss who will not want to replace you. I must say that this will not result in you getting what was promised however. What will happen is they will re-negotiate what they give you and compromise (maybe 20% chance of that), giving you perhaps 1/4 of what they promised as an incentive.
Or they will say they can't do it or bring out some other flaw they know about you or will make up. Or they will cry that they can't do it, but wanted to help you, because unfortunately it's beyond their control. (things have changed, were less profitable, my boss now won't let me do it, etc.) passing the buck.
In 4 out of 5 cases, you'll probably get nothing from the confrontation. If it isn't in writing your only recorse is to move on.
If it was in writing then you could sue and in some instances win and then move on or inside the organization. However your potential to move up the corporate ladder where you are after a lawsuit will be stalled forever and you won't get a good reference to other employers.
If you think your really valuable, the confrontation method will not get you much.
