I am an employee with a large consulting firm (BAH), recently I was arrested at checkpoint for a dui, I have not yet been convicted but the chances in these cases are slim. I was wondering how worried I should be of getting terminated. This was really a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time after having 3 drinks over the course of a meal. Do I have any hope of maintaining employment if I do in fact get convicted?
Any advice would be great and because Ive never been so scared in my life. |

I am very good friends with a consultant from another firm. This consultant was hired while under indictment for felony embeezzlement from a former firm and was later convicted after being hired. The firm is in the same league as BAH and is a close competitor and the consultant is at the level just below partner. The sentence was many months of house arrest (able to leave home for work and church only), community service, fines and full restitution. The consultant is an employee in good stead with no restrictions. This person is not "connected" in any way, but is very good and experienced consultant.
You will be surprised to learn that you can get a government Secret Clearance with a felony conviction. It is harder, but it is not prohibited. So a DUI is small stuff by comparison. So it's really just up to BAH. If they do let you go, other firms will still hire you.
