I've been at a new job for 2 months and originally took the position because it was a better company, better title and seemed to be a step up. It turns out, my new boss tells people what they want to hear to get them to do what she wants - i.e. telling me it would be a step up. In fact, it has been a huge step back - my responsibilities are far less than originally described. When I left my old position, they tried everything under the sun to get me to stay and had to hire 2 people to fill my shoes. I'm not sure how to handle this: do I go back to the old job assuming they'll take me? I know the logical answer is to try to work it out but I don't see a workable solution. Help! |

You made a greviouds error in judgement and now you need to rectify it. If you think that our old company may want you back put out some "feelers" If not then begin networking and hard. Use every moment of free time to get someone's attention. Get out the rolodex or the PDA and start making calls. Register on monster, figuer jobs, etc. You need to get out fast. Five years ago I mad the error of joining my current employer and five years later I am bitter, miserable and want to get out. Don't let this happen to you. Life is too short.
